A protein-reduced diet in everyday life requires a great deal of planning, discipline, and often involves many restrictions. With this cookbook, we want to offer you new inspiration: recipes that bring joy, include the whole family, and help restore a sense of normality.

At Dipharma Arzneimittel, our aim is to support you and your family in the long term. We listen — to your questions, your needs, your daily challenges. Through close exchange with patients, relatives, doctors, dietitians, and self-help groups, we develop practical solutions that make everyday life easier. To support therapy — for example when using sapropterin — we provide additional materials, from information brochures and video tutorials to this cookbook.

A special thank you goes to Ms. Thuy Nguyen, who has been supporting families with metabolic disorders since 2008. Her experience and her intuitive understanding of everyday life have shaped the recipes in this book: practical, varied, enjoyable — and close to “normal” cuisine.

A balanced selection of foods is — even when undergoing therapy with sapropterin — a central part of treatment. This book offers many international favorite recipes, carefully adapted to the requirements of PKU and BH4 deficiency.

Finally, for who is used to reason in terms of PKU exchange, we provide you with a user-friendly table that will enable any PKU patient to easily calculate how many grams of each single recipe he/she would need to get 1 exchange.
